Jessica Galassie Visits Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project
June 16, 2025
VDMC’s Senior Program Manager for Technology Insertion, Jessica Galassie, MBA, had the incredible opportunity to visit the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) Project – the United States’ largest offshore wind farm—located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. She joined a group of Old Dominion University colleagues, students, and Associate Vice President for Maritime Initiatives, Elspeth McMahon, on this inspiring and informative voyage.
When fully constructed, the CVOW will deliver clean, renewable energy to the grid and avoid millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The ODU visit was about connecting the dots between maritime operations, advanced technology, and workforce readiness, as well as offering valuable insights into the engineering, logistics, and digital systems that will shape the next generation of offshore capabilities.
Special thanks to Dominion Energy for hosting all the Monarchs! As the seas were calm, it was a great day to witness how maritime innovation and sustainability are powering both our region’s economy and environmental future.
